Based in Kansas City, Missouri, the chiefs are members of the NFL’s West Division in the American Football Conference. Originally located in Dallas, TX, the team relocated to Kansas City in 1963 and joined the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. The Chiefs were the second AFL team, after the New York Jets, to defeat an NFL franchise in a Championship game when they won Super Bowl IV over the Minnesota Vikings. They were also the first team to appear in the Championship game in two different decades.
