With so much attention on the NFL Super Bowl, there are others who don’t really agree with the way that the National Football League conducts it’s business.
I don’t necessarily support or oppose any of the following, but what do you think of these petitions from Change.org?
NFL Teams: Pay Your Cheerleaders A Living Wage
NFL cheerleaders are one of the most recognizable mainstays of the sport, rooting on their teams in extreme weather and performing stunning, difficult routines for millions of fans. But while cheerleaders bring in as much as 1 million dollars each season for their teams in merchandising and promotion, many get paid as little as $150 per game.

NFL: Take Real Action on Domestic Violence
There are 32 NFL teams in the league and 21 of those teams have players who have at some point in time faced domestic assault or sexual assault charges. Kansas City Chiefs’ former running back, Larry Johnson, was arrested in October for choking his girlfriend. Miami Dolphins’ receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson was arrested in August for headbutting his wife. In March, Bears receiver Brandon Marshall was accused of punching a woman in the face outside of a nightclub.
The list is long. And something has to change.

Stop punishing NFL players for using marijuana!
For years, the NFL has been punishing players for using marijuana despite the fact that it is far less harmful than alcohol, a substance widely embraced by the league. Now that the U.S. Justice Department has announced that states are allowed to legalize marijuana for adults or for medical use, the NFL should also recognize and respect those laws.

Revoke the Tax-Exempt Status of the National Football League
Despite the fact that it is a $9Billion/Year industry, the National Football League (NFL) continues to enjoy status as a non-profit organization — meaning it doesn’t have to pay federal corporate taxes.
The Commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell, makes nearly $30 million a year — earning more than the heads of companies like Coca-Cola and Wal-Mart. Through TV deals alone, the NFL has inked nearly $30 billion with various television networks. And so often, fans like you and me are asked to foot the bill for new stadiums through our own taxes.
Yet despite being the most profitable sports league in the entire world, the NFL does not pay federal taxes.

What else?
Besides these petitions (or instead of), what petitions would you support to improve the contribution that the National Football League, the teams, and the players to our community?
