There are rumors that DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket will NO LONGER require you to actually have DirecTV as your television provider. You will be able to subscribe for NFL Sunday Ticket as a standalone service using your internet connection and your laptop, iPad, game console, or other connected device.
NFL Sunday Ticket pricing plans
According to the DirecTV promotional page, there will be 3 pricing plans with varying levels of benefits:
- Digital – $199.99 per season – stream games to your computer, tablet, or phone (student discounts available)
- Console – $239.99 per season – stream games to your video game console only
- Max – $329.99 per season – stream to all devices, plus you get the Red Zone and Fantasy Zone channels
There is no word yet whether any or all of these packages will be able to use Apples AirPlay technology to stream games to your TV.
For all 3 packages, you get real-time stats and scores, and you can track your favorite players.
Unfortunately, you can only watch out-of-market games with any of these packages… so you can’t watch the team that plays in your local market.
Best way to pay for the package
I’m considering signing up for one of these packages… and when I do, I’m going to use my NFL Extra Points credit card. Watching the games from my couch is pretty comfortable, but there’s nothing like attending a game in person. I’m saving up points to attend the Super Bowl!

On the DirecTV promotion page, there is some fine print showing some limitations.
