I will be in New York for the Affiliate Summit East 2014 conference, so I checked the schedule to see if any teams were playing. The Yankees will be hosting the Cleveland Indians at the new Yankee Stadium. I haven’t been to the new stadium yet and this is Derek Jeter’s final season, so this was a perfect opportunity to catch a game!

Buying tickets to the game using a MasterCard
There are obviously many, many ways to buy a ticket to a baseball game — cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, etc.
However, only one of these will get you MasterCard Preferred Pricing when buying tickets at Yankee Stadium! I’ll be sitting on the “short porch” in right field, hoping the baseball players will hit one my way.
By using my MasterCard, I saved $5.10 on my ticket… which is just about enough to buy 1/2 a beer!
At least I’ll also get a cool souvenir t-shirt to bring home with me!
My favorite MasterCard is the Barclay Arrival card because I can redeem my points towards flights, hotels, and car rentals when I go to games.
Conclusion
If you’re going to go to a ballgame, make sure you know the secret ways to save a little extra cash… In this case, it was using the right credit card when buying your ticket. These savings will help fund your next trip or allow you to splurge and get a little better seats! Your ticket is waiting.
