Top Matchups of the 2014-15 NBA Season

The NBA released their schedule a few days ago, and there are several games that jump out and make basketball fans eager with anticipation.  With so many players coming back from injury, being traded, and moving due to free agency, there are plenty of story lines to follow. Here are my favorites NBA match-ups of the 2014-2015 basketball season.

LeBron’s 1st game in back in Cleveland with Kevin Love

Lebron and Love 2014-08

The two biggest stories of the off-season were LeBron James free agency decision to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers from the Miami Heat and the blockbuster trade of Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Cavs for 3 1st round draft picks. The first game in Cleveland will be October 30, 2014 against the New York Knicks.

Kobe's back from injury

Kobe Bryant only played a handful of games last year after rehabbing one injury, before getting injured again and sitting out the remainder of the season. The Los Angeles Lakers will start the season at home against the Houston Rockets on October 28, 2014.

LeBron returns to Miami to face the Heat

Continuing the LeBron Decision II saga, he returns to face Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh on Christmas Day.  What a present to find under the tree!

Derek Rose back from injury, with free agent addition Pau Gasol

Derek Rose has been rehabbing a torn up knee for almost 2 years now.  Based on his highlight reel plays during the USA Basketball exhibition games this summer, he seems like he  is back to old self.  Will they have enough firepower to compete for the Eastern Conference championship? The Chicago Bulls face the New York Knicks in New York on October 29, 2014.

Christmas Day

Every year the NBA does a great job of matching up teams that have a history (ie: Pau Gasol vs the Lakers and LeBron returning to Miami) or that are expected to compete for the NBA Championship.  This year is no different as the following games are scheduled:
  • Washington Wizards at New York Knicks
  • Oklahoma City Thunder at San Antonio Spurs
  • Cleveland Cavaliers at Miami Heat
  • Los Angeles Lakers at Chicago Bulls
  • Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Clippers

Conclusion

If you want to watch these games on TV, here is the NBA national TV schedule.  However, I recommend you try to attend at least one game this year in person! My primary goal this season is to see a game in San Antonio before Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobli retire.  What games are you planning on attending this year?
